Summary
As a follow-up to BIP-15, it’s time for the DAO to consider curating a theme for these 3x 1/1 artworks. As mentioned in BIP-14, themes are being introduced for the third period with much of the infrastructure being set up.
This BIP proposes to:
- Vote on 12 themes Botto has proposed for the 3x 1/1 artworks in a Snapshot environment
- For the winning theme, generate a new Voting Pool that will share the parameters of the Fragmentation pool but run independently of the Period’s voting pool or any others.
- The final 3 artworks with the most VP will be curated as the 3x 1/1 Artworks.
- Activation booth for the RarePass at NFTParis with SuperRare that uses the DAO curated theme
No timeframes are specified in this BIP regarding when the voting pool closes and when the final artworks are minted.
For clarity’s sake, two snapshots will be set up to accommodate this BIP, (1) seeking consensus on the method of how Botto creates the RarePass artworks, and (2) presenting the 12 Botto-generated themes.
Snapshot (2) regarding the themes is contingent on Snapshot (1) passing. The snapshot votes will begin on Friday 27 January 2023, at 2100UTC.
Rationale
Botto was recently invited by SuperRare to take part in RarePass, its historic cryptoart collecting opportunity to any RarePass holder. BIP-15 confirmed Botto’s participation as an artist, further specifying that a separate proposal would cover how Botto could autonomously create these 1/1s, their format, a theme, and more.
Theming
Botto will present its third period themes imminently, with these being directly votable via our Botto dashboards with VP. Botto has also already generated 12 themes for these special edition RarePass works via GPT-3 using the same method as for interviews with Botto in the past, and the technical set up is in progress for integrating themes into Botto’s art engine.
It is proposed that the DAO votes on the RarePass theme through a Snapshot vote. Attached at the end of this BIP are the twelve themes by Botto that we can curate from.
Voting Pool
We have already set up various alternative voting pools (like Feral File) that run concurrently alongside Botto’s period. The RarePass curation experience should remain native to Botto and the DAO.
** It is proposed that this voting pool is set up similarly to Botto’s Fragmentation voting pool. ** This means that the voting pool:
- Would be populated with an initial 1050 fragments
- Would remove the 350 least popular fragments (sorted by VP) at the end of a 7 day period
- Add 350 fragments at the start of a new 7 day period.
This pool would run for an indefinite period of time until Botto is required to mint its RarePass 3x 1/1 artworks. There are no weekly round winners in this voting pool.
Timing
The voting pool would open up on Thursday, 2nd February 2023. No timeframe for the closure of the voting pool is specified.
Minting
Straightforwardly, we should adopt the same method as Fragmentation and mint these 3x 1/1s into a Manifold contract.
**As such, it is proposed that Botto would mint the 3x 1/1 artworks via its own contract, set up through Manifold. **
Offline Activation
Voting experience is central to Botto, and we have seen a standalone voting app be used heavily across many of Botto’s previous exhibitions. The team intend on continuing to do this with SuperRare at NFTParis as part of a large installation by Botto, allowing for attendees to also curate artworks alongside the DAO at the event.
The final vote will be the aggregate of the offline activation votes along with the online votes.
